The Defence Secretary @JohnHealey_MP this morning confirmed that a Russian spy ship – the Yantar – is on the edge of UK waters, north of Scotland, having entered the UK’s wider waters over the last few weeks. This is a vessel used for gathering intelligence and mapping undersea cables, dragging sensors behind it. The @RoyalNavy deployed frigate HMS Somerset, and the @RoyalAirForce deployed P-8 aircraft to track the vessel’s every move, during which the Yantar directed light lasers at our pilots. This is the second time this year that this Russian spy ship has deployed to UK waters. It is one of many Russian vessels designed to threaten our Critical Underwater Infrastructure. Austria's intelligence services uncovered a weapons cache in Vienna believed to be linked to Hamas for use in "possible terrorist attacks" against Israeli or Jewish targets in Europe, the government said. A British national with "close ties to the weapons cache" was arrested in London. The weapons cache, which is thought to be part of unspecified operations linked to Hamas, was discovered in a suitcase in a rented storage room in Vienna and contained five handguns and 10 magazines. According to local media, the discovery was made possible due to a foiled Hamas attack in Germany at the beginning of October. German authorities had dismantled a Berlin terrorist cell, and several people were arrested, including three suspected Hamas members
