The Police Service of Northern Ireland says two men aged 18 and 19 who were arrested by detectives investigating the murder of journalist Lyra McKee in Londonderry on Thursday have been released without charge
Northern Ireland police arrest two over murder of journalist
A crowd has turned out to the Creggan area of Derry after Journalist Lyra McKee was shot dead last night, including @sinnfeinireland's Michelle O'Neill and @DUPleader.
The rioters then appear to have stolen two vehicles, a white van and a black car, and set them on fire at the junction of Fanad Drive and Central Drive.
It was after this that Lyra McKee was shot. A Facebook livestream appears to have filmed this event. You can hear shots, screams, and then the camera turns to point at a person lying on the ground next to a @PoliceServiceNI vehicle.
This appears to be a much more likely origin of the shots that killed Lyra.
Approx 10 shots fired by gunman in Londonderry
Irish Taoiseach Leo Varadkar condemned the killing of Lyra McKee and said: "We cannot allow those who want to propagate violence, fear and hate to drag us back to the past."
An off-duty journalist was killed after shots were fired during rioting in the Northern Irish city of Londonderry overnight, in what police on Friday said was likely the work of militant nationalists opposed to the British region’s 1998 peace deal.
Police say they believe the new IRA is behind a Londonderry "terror attack" in which a journalist was shot dead.
